The Royal Thai Government has announced an important update to its visa exemption policy. The temporary 60-day visa-free entry will be replaced with the standard 30-day visa exemption for eligible travelers. What Has Changed?

Travelers from eligible visa-exempt countries will now receive a 30-day entry stamp upon arrival instead of the temporary 60-day stay. This change has been introduced to strengthen border security and ensure travelers use the appropriate visa for the purpose and duration of their visit.

When Will the New Rule Take Effect?

The new regulation will become effective 15 days after its publication in the Royal Gazette.m. The official enforcement date will be announced as soon as it is confirmed.

Already in Thailand?

If you entered Thailand under the previous 60-day visa exemption, your stay remains valid until the expiry date stamped in your passport. No further action is required unless you wish to extend your stay.

Can I Extend My Stay?

Yes. Eligible travelers may apply for a 30-day extension at a local Thailand Immigration Office. Please note that extension requests must meet immigration requirements and are subject to approval by the immigration officer.

Land Border Entry Limit

Under the Thailand Visa Exemption Scheme, travelers may enter Thailand by land a maximum of two times per calendar year.
